An established international freight forwarder is seeking an experienced Import Customer Service operator to join their Auckland team.

This is a central role within the business and will suit someone who enjoys owning shipments end to end, working closely with customers and operations and being part of a small, collaborative team.

The role
You will take ownership of import shipments across sea, air and cross-trade, managing jobs accurately from initiation through to completion. This includes proactive communication with customers and internal teams, maintaining job costing, invoicing and WIP, and liaising closely with freight stations, transport providers, overseas agents and suppliers. The role also requires adherence to NZ Customs, MPI and DG requirements, use of established tariffs and rates when quoting is required, and a practical contribution to continuous improvement and team productivity.

This is a small to medium-sized New Zealand operation backed by an international group. The local team is collaborative and close-knit, operating in a hands-on environment where people are encouraged to take ownership and support one another.

About you
You will bring prior experience in import customer service within a freight forwarding environment and be comfortable managing multiple shipments at once. You take pride in accuracy, communicate clearly and prefer working in a structured, team-based setting.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Import customer service experience in freight forwarding
  • Sea and air freight exposure
  • Strong attention to detail around costing and invoicing
  • Confidence using CargoWise or a similar system
  • A calm, organised and dependable working style
Salary: Up to $80,000, depending on experience.
