My client is a key player in the veterinary wholesale market. Known for agility, reliability and building true partnerships that add value for their customers. The company supplies clinics nationwide with a broad range of products, supported by strong supplier relationships and an easy-to-engage operating model. This business has a huge track record of growth and we now need a highly motivated BDM to grow their South Island area (main focus is Christchurch). You’ll be joining a motivated, customer-focused team backed by a passionate General Manager who empowers his people with trust, autonomy and support when needed.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a growth oriented BDM - someone who thrives on opening doors, asking for the sale and staying curious and persistent even when the answer is “not yet.” There are also existing accounts to manage and share of wallet to gain. This role manages the South Island but the key focus is Christchurch to South Canterbury. There’ll likely be 3-4 nights away per month. Ideally you'll be Christchurch based but could be as far south as Timaru.
Your focus will be on:
- Driving new business across the South Island veterinary market. Growing your portfolio of customers to manage.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with independent clinic operators (a major area of opportunity)
- Growing existing accounts through service, follow-up and proactive problem-solving
- Partnering with the internal team as well as supplier reps to stay across product availability and to create points of value for clinics
What You’ll Bring
- A growth mindset, persistence and a want to own your patch.
- Proven success in new business B2B sales as well as managing accounts.
- Experience in the petfood industry would be a real benefit but not essential.
- A strong relationship builder, able to uncover pain points and shift behaviours to win accounts. You’re trusted and for good reason. Strong sales disciplines.
- Grounded, pragmatic and flexible to meet changing demands
- Self-starter attitude with a collaborative approach
