Reporting to the General Manager, this is a key leadership role for this business, with full accountability for the operational performance of the Upper North Island. With Depots around the region engaging close to 100 staff and delivering $40m in revenue, this role is accountable for the finanacial and operational peformance of the regional linehaul network, metro operations, customer services and depot operations.

Creating an environment that fosters significant growth and high performance requires a visible and credible leader who can provide a clear, structured, measured and managed approach. Continuous improvement is also crucial, ensuring the business model enables growth.

Key areas of focus:

  • Operational and financial performance of the region in line with expected growth targets and KPIs
  • Lead the region as a key part of the senior mangement team, fostering and mentoring talent, and building bench-strength
  • Creating an empowered and engaged team who understand what success looks like
  • Enhance business value through continuous improvement
  • Fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders and customers, identifying and leveraging commercial opportunities
  • Create positive internal working relationships across internal networks and working collaboratively towards shared outcomes

We are looking for an established and successful leader in road transport who can build the framework to grow, and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities with:

  • A minimum of 5 yrs experience in a senior role in general freight - preferrably as part of an executive leadership team
  • Robust knowledge of freight and logistics and the New Zealand market
  • Nimble interraction skills that are effective from the floor to the boardroom
  • Commercial and wider business acumen, and the ability to build the framework for success and growth with an eye on business influences
  • Financial acumen
  • Emotional intelligence, and a commitment to leading by example
  • Strong planning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills across a range of stakeholders
